These look terrific, but the straps tend to slip while in use. They could be "rougher".I got these for my Mom who has aged a bit and has had difficulty opening lids and jars. She recently hurt her shoulder trying to open a Gatorade bottle. I did not know for sure if they would work for this. But, since they were not expensive I decided to try them. She loves them and says it makes opening everything so easy. I got her the set with two so she could use reverse leverage on difficult lids, but she has only had to use the one so far. I was very happy to find something of quality that would assist her. All the arthritis assistant ones I looked at were cheap and had very poor reviews. I am glad I took the chance to see if they would work. Probably not what most people use these for, but a tool is a tool and it has greatly helped my Mom and that is all I care about. No more hurt shoulders from opening a Gatorade bottle.I used these wrenches today to remove a shower head and it was quite a hassle. The problem is the straps cannot lock. They have a slot to slide through, but nothing prevents them from pulling back out. I assumed the design of the wrench would lock the strap as you pulled but that's just not the case. A missed opportunity. In the end I was able to remove the shower head with these wrenches by wrapping the rubber around the handle, holding the wrench. It required both hands so I could not use the second wrench to keep the pipe still which risks damaging the pipe/wall. I managed to get it, though. But I would have felt much better with a sturdy metal wrench and a rag to not scratch the pipe.Try this on a very tight oil filter. The rubber belt was barely hanging on and leave trace of rubber streaks. I am concerned with the long term durability of this device.Like: Multisized. A valuable tool to open stubborn jars. The rubber smell is more pungent than my last pipe-wrench. I hope the scent mellows with time. The rubber tail is long without any place to tuck the unused piece of rubber. If you apply too much torque they slip. I'm not exactly sure what these are good for. A pipe wrench seems like it would have been a better buy. These might be useful for an oil filter or a jar lid, but they slipped on every pipe or connection I put them on.I was pleasantly surprised at the sturdiness of this plastic strap wrench combo. I'm using them to disconnect rv sewer hoses & fittings. My hands don't have the strength they once did and these strap wrenches work pretty good for that purpose. It does the job but it takes some care wrapping the rubber strap and keeping it in place. I would recommend a "conventional" strap tool as a more practical instrument to tighten or remove filters or difficult lids. It took me some time to wrap the rubber strap around the fridge water filter and keeping in place. There are better choices.Very impressed. Very fast. They opened a bottle of sauerkraut that resisted all other attempts. They work in a different manner than expected. The fat strap goes around the bottle, the thin one goes around the lid. This gives the torque needed to remove the lid. The straps are flexible and very strong. The handles are very strong and are not going to break. This system is going to last a very long time. The price is exceptional.A very economical and ergonomic system that will make you laugh when you see how well it works. Bravo!I have never been so enthusiastic about a product from Amazon. Highly recommended.Solid construction product. Decent price for 2 pieces (for Amazon purchase). I remember buying similar product from the dollar store several years ago for like $2-4, also 2 pieces like this one. This particular product isn't as great as it could have been. What it doesn't have (compared to what I have from the dollar store) is a lock. This lock is to supposed to prevent the strap from coming loose while you are trying to use it. But now because it doesn't have a lock, when you wrap the strap around the object and then the leftover strap you'll need to grab it with the handle tightly or else it'll come loose. If you need to use both of the these tools together, you'll need to be very patient because it can be very frustrating. So you'll need to do it quickly before both loops come loose. So far I have used these to open jars, tight plastic lids and for oil changes. My hands are pretty beat from laying stone my entire adult life so these have been really helpful to keep in the house and in the garage. I find myself going for these a lot more than I initially expected as my go to tool. It's way better for getting stuck oil filters off than a traditional filter wrench as it doesn't completely mangle the thin aluminum. At the price point you can't go wrong and they are built to last. Also diesel/gasoline and motor oil haven't had any damaging effects to the rubber or plastic. I would highly recommend as a great tool addition to your garage/kitchen.The belt on either unit is narrow and doesn't provide a rough surface to grip well on anything difficult to turn. The belt has to be held tight (your other hand) as there is no locking device for the belt. I believe it might work on a stubborn kitchen jar, but it's not much of a useful tool to add to your tool box,These are well priced. There are others which look identical but they're far more expensive. I bought these primarily for opening jars and the caps on my humidifier water tanks. They work excellently for those tasks. The handles are ergonomic and pleasant to look at. I have not used them on oil filters but I know they will work extremely well for removing them. Oil filters are not installed and torqued down with high force. Just make sure the filter does not have oil on it where the rubber strap needs to grab. Same goes for jars whose lids have smooth surfaces. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would recommend them.
