I've had an opportunity to put 2,000+ miles on my 2018 Volvo T5 since installing the chip. My assessment is that it certainly improves throttle response and minimizes turbo lag - especially at take off from a stop. This makes for a more pleasant driving experience. I have not noticed any diminishing of MPG since installing the chip.If it really improves top end HP by 25-40 hp, I've no way to truly validate that. It seems to have more power - but I believe that's because the chip helps tune the performance of the engine and its torque output in the more normal engine driving band or speed & load.So the 4 out of 5 stars is only because I've no exacting or specific means to validate performance improvement claims. I know there are YouTube videos of doing 0-60 trial runs with and with out chip engaged. I've not done that and that is probably the one "layman's" way to perform a more specific test.For the $90 on Amazon, it is worth the improvements experienced - real or perceived.BTW - the chip arrived far sooner than expected with no markings on it that would indicate it was specific to my car. Makes one think the chips are all the same and ship out ASAP versus being tuned or programmed specifically to your make vehicle before shipping. But whatever algorithms it uses and 'self learns' that works for my vehicle, as stated it seems to have improved performance as expected.
