I used this to help build a 5.4 4V engine. I was pretty happy with the tool, although make sure you seat the stop well, and a couple of times the needle didn't move as I was turning the wrench. It's a bit clumsy, but will help torque TTY bolts.- I used the tool to tighten, to torque specs, the bolts that connect the cylinder head to the engine block. I was replacing the cylinder head and head gasket of a 2000 VW Jetta 2.0 GL 5 speed transmission.- Due to the difficulty of this repair and the fact that you have to get it right to even get the car running again, I decided to get the torque angle tool. Also. The cylinder head bolts are torque to yield (tty) and any wrong tightening would lead to stripping of the threads, bolts or worse. This tool (used together with a torque wrench) eliminates this possibility of error.- The tool comes with some sparse instructions as to how you use it.- I purchased a special tool, M10 that is specific for VW Jetta cylinder head bolts. This is the tool that you use to remove and install the cylinder head bolts.- Following the manufacturer's instructions on how to instal the cylinder head bolts (I used the Haynes Manual) I tightened the cylinder head bolts to 40 ft/lbs. this tightening needed a 90 degree further tightening. This is where the torque angle tool comes in. You set it to zero degrees and in conjunction with a torque wrench, torque the bolts to the specs recommended by the manufacturer. You then tighten the bolts upto the 90 degree mark.- I hope the pictures I have posted will help. Good luck with your repair!Graphic seems to be printed on cheap paper and whatever lubrication they use on the center shaft has leaked/stained the paper with the angle graphic on it. Thumb screw was installed wrong and crossthreaded into the square nut they preinstall. Nut is also too small for the opening and twists about when trying to clamp the stopper. Tool works acceptably.I purchased this because my 2011 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi has a three-step head torquing sequence and the third one is 90° you can't swing a wrench 90° under the hood so you use this dial indicator so you can use a ratchet and keep going until you get to 90°.Berry easy to useTried to use it rebuilding a head for a car. Waist of time and money. Dial will not turn at all or will move a little then stop while you are still turn the bolt. JunkDidn’t work the very first time.Works fairly well. I haven't tested against a reference torque wrench. I managed to overtorque two bolts which were designed for 40 inch-pounds by trying to torque them to 40 foot-pounds with this wrench and two reducing adapters. The knurled nut on the end used to lock the torque setting in is difficult to turn sometimes with bare fingers. Not a deal-breaker for me, since i have pliers. Would have liked to see this shipped with a storage case of some sort; instead you just get the bare tool.I bought this to torque some bolts on my front suspension nothing hard or even close to the max ft pounds I put it in my tool box wrapped in cloth. I pulled it out to do one last bolt after having to wait for shipping boarder red tape etc and to my shagrin it was broken it wont loosen off or tighten (torque settings) and wont ratchet at all it just makes rattling noises inside. Unfortunately it was not noticed until after the warranty was up which I discovered too late was exceptionally short for a tool like 30 ft or 30 days something stupid like that.In short skip this tool it's not worth trying to save s buck cheap trash is still trashthis would be 5/5 if it came with a some what of a case. torque wrenches without cases tend to lose calibrations really fast. but is a nice torque wrench if you have a case for it*update couple years after. I dont use it much but when i do as im torquing something it seems the part u twist to adjust ft lb torque spins a slight amount causing the torque to be adjusted mid torque. I tighten the bottom spin bolt as much as possible to keep from spinning and it still happens. DisappointingI'm afraid this was a fail for me. The needle is supposed to move as you tighten the bolt - for my gauge the needle moved partially didn't track the bolt so I was left having to guess the angle. Worse than useless.Since this was a head bolt, I wasn't too happy.Used mainly at 80 ft-lb for wheel nuts. Comparing to a properly calibrated torque wrench, the number is off by 5 ft-lb. It's not really a big deal. The big deal is it is already broken after a year. The ratchet doesn't engage all the time. This is bad especially when I am tightening wheel nuts. Not recommending. Paying quality tools go a long time. I have learnt my lesson.
